If you’re anything like me, you’re still cleaning up after your amazing (but messy) holiday parties.
There’s nothing better to top off a freshly cleaned house than some Febreze! But have you realized how much it costs? When I was at the grocery store recently, I was tempted to buy a Fluffy Vanilla fabric refresher, just to see that it costed $5.99 for one bottle.
Now Febreze claims to eliminate odours, not mask them. So coming up with a DIY Febreze required some research.
Here’s what I came up with, and truth be told, I use it for every fabric/soft surface in my home!
Take an old spray bottle, washed thoroughly.
Add 2 TBS of baking soda.
Add 2 cups of hot water (so the baking soda dissolves.)
Add essential oils – My favourite combination is vanilla (you can even use vanilla extract, but not too much because of the colour,) and sweet orange essential oil. This smells like an orange creamsicle!
By making your own fabric refresher, you know what’s in it. After doing some research on just the fragrance components of Febreze will make you think twice about spraying this around your family, children and pets. The list of chemicals required to produce their fragrance is long and exhausting.
This DIY product should be safe on any fabric, but always do a spot test!
Breathe healthy and stay fresh, Snobs!
