“If I can can, then you can can”
These are the inspiring words of Masoon Zayid and her father that aided Masoon in overcoming the debilitating effects of cerebral palsy.
Masoon is a comedian, writer and an all-around inspirational woman (find more about her here.) This video from the TED Talk TED Women Conference and is almost fifteen minutes long, but I recommend you watch the entire thing; she makes you laugh for fourteen and cry for one.
“I’ve got 99 problems and palsy is just one; I’m Palestinian, Muslim, female, disabled, and I live in New Jersey.”
Masoon has taken the oppression surrounding her and turned it on its head. What I learned most from her inspirational words? It doesn’t matter what knocks you down, as long as you know how to get back up.
I hope you enjoyed this (and cried happy tears) as much as I did. So think about it, Snobs: positive thinking is powerful, so use it!
