As some of you may know I’m in the grand metropolis of NYC as we speak!
While I’ve been here I’ve been to some AMAZING thrift stores, as I’m always looking for great deals on good quality vintage clothing that I won’t be able to find on anyone else. As someone who considers herself quite seasoned in the area of thrift store shopping, I am going to share with you some of my greatest tips on how to get the best clothing out of your thrifty experience!
1. Wear Form-Fitting Clothing When You Go Shopping: This is so that if the store you are in does not have a change room you can still slip the amazing blouse on over your current clothes!
2. Bring Cash With You – Thrift stores have an odd tendency to be small and behind the times when it comes to debit/credit machines or ATM’s. Be prepared so you don’t have to leave any hot duds behind!
3. Check Out the Clothing VERY Closely Before You Buy: In a lot of cases, the clothing that goes to thrift stores originated in some old granny’s basement trunk. So, who knows where it’s been or what it’s been through. Not to say that the clothes are necessarily dirty, but you should inspect the piece up and down, front to back, just to make sure that there are no snags or stains. That’s just good logic!
I’m always open to hearing new ways to effectively thrift store shop! If you have any ideas feel free to leave them in the comments below!
