Merryyy politically correct Holidays everybody!
I love this time of year. It’s a time to be around family and friends, deck your cat out in Reindeer ears, and eat, eat, eat! The “problem” (although I’m perfectly fine with it until the 1st of January) is that when I stuff my face around the holidays, my guilt is pretty much nonexistent. I figure that this is what most people experience or the term “fat pants” would not even exist. So I wondered, as one does, how to enjoy the delicacies of the holidays without having to let out my jeans. I poured for hours over recipe books (not really, I went to the grocery store) to find the best possible mixture with which to satisfy my taste buds. After a few tweaks here and there, voila!
1 frozen banana
1 cup unsweetened organic vanilla almond milk
1 tbsp molasses
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
Pinch of ground nutmeg
Pinch of ground cloves
Handful of ice cubes
½ cup unsweetened, non-fat plain Greek yogurt
(This recipe is gluten-free and to make it dairy-free just take out the Greek Yogurt!)
Sidenote: Although Greek yogurt is a healthy choice when it comes to sodium, carbohydrates, protein, and calcium, be wary of the fat content. Be sure to pick non-fat versions to avoid saturated fats. Put all ingredients together in a blender, mix til smooth, pour into fancy glass, enjoy!
(The mixture in all of its bubbly glory)
