WINTER WORKOUTS!
I don’t know about you, but I find that staying fit in the winter is so much harder than it is in the summer.
First of all, I want to drink all the hot calorie-filled drinks. I mean. Hot chocolate, Chai Tea Lattes, and then of course red wine. Anything that keeps me warm AND makes me forget about how cold it is outside, I want it now.
Then of course, the fact that going outside to do anything is awful.
“Oh, you want to go for a walk. How about some frost bite with that exercise.”
“Oh, you want to go grocery shopping for healthy food? How about I just make the sidewalks a little slippery while you carry your 4 bags of groceries home.”
As you can tell, I really am not a fan of the winter. But, I’m learning some tricks to make my winters less miserable, and more enjoyable (with a little help from my friends). So, here are a few tips to making the most out of this cold weather.
1. Go Somewhere Warm.
I had to put this here, because if you can do this then stop reading and go somewhere warm. And then do things outside. If thats not an option, keep going.
2. Golf Simulator
This has got to be one of my favourites. Golfing, inside, while it’s a blizzard outside! You feel like you’re in warm weather on a perfect day! This will set you back about $40 an hour downtown Toronto but definitely worth it. It’s also a great place to start golfing if you aren’t very good. You have your own room to practice without worrying about getting in another golfers way.
3. Skiing/Snowboarding
If you can dress up accordingly, skiing doesn’t keep you out of the cold, but it’s a GREAT workout. Especially if you’re not a good skier. The worse you are, the harder you work, and in turn the better work out you get (or at least I feel like.) This can be pricy, so it’s not always the best option for some people. I will say though, at 125 pounds, you can burn up to 1000 calories in only a few hours of skiing!
4. Rock Climbing
This is actually better in the winter in any of the indoor gyms because in the summer they tend to get really hot. This is also an amazing work out, and it can be fairly cheap if you get a membership.
5. Snowshoeing
This is something literally anyone can do, and it’s so fun! Just bundle up, and find a trail with some beautiful views. You won’t want to go home. Go on a date or with some girlfriends and bring some hot chocolate. Bonus – Great for Instagram shots!
6. At Home Videos
These are obviously one of my favourites because I don’t have to go outside. If you can grab a mat, and even 10-15 pound weights, you can do amazing at home workouts. My go-to’s are Jillian Michaels and GymRa on Youtube. This one is strictly a body weight work out and it’s great!
Or if you want something a little more ridiculous…
7. Sex
Yep. I went there. This can be a great work out, and you can stay in bed…. need I say more?
Bonus:
Green Tea
This will warm you up, and boost your immune system.
So there you have it! Stay in shape and have a great monday! 🙂
xoxo
