You walk onto what you expect to be a floor, but is actually a sea of black trampolines. You look over to your right and see four long, narrow trampolines that all end at a massive foam pit. You look to your left and see balls being thrown and slam dunks being made.
Once both feet hit the first black trampoline, you start to lose balance. You reach out to grab a wall, but then realize that there are no walls — just trampolines. The walls have been replaced with trampolines.
If this scenario sounds like some crazy dream, then you need to wake up and go to a Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park.
Yeah… this is a thing.
It’s basically a massive play area that welcomes both kids and adults.
Remember those bouncy castles at the company barbecues that were never adult-friendly? And remember that sad, sad heartache you felt when you realized you were an adult and couldn’t go in?
Well, thanks to this place, you no longer have to feel that way. Consider Sky Zone to be a modern-day Neverland. 😉
The company’s first indoor trampoline park opened in 2004. Today, there are more than 30 locations across Canada and the U.S. I went to the one in Mississauga Ont., and by looking at the pictures of the other locations online, it looks like it follows a similar setup to the rest of them.
Now as a former gymnast, I couldn’t be more excited to go. I’ve longed to flip around and tumble into the foam bit, and this place actually let me! You sign a waiver on your way in and once you put on your Skysocks ($2), you’re given almost full trampoline freedom!
On top of many trampolines, the basketball nets and the foam pit, you also have the option to play dodgeball.
When was the last time you bounced off of a trampoline wall to make a kick-ass dodgeball shot? Never? I thought so.
I’m telling you: this is the ideal place to go to if you’re looking for something different to do or if you’re just looking to feel like a kid again. It’s only $9 per person for a half-hour jump, which actually turns out to be extremely exhausting. Other durations and prices can be found at skyzone.com.
Happy Sunday Funday, people! Let’s bounce! xo
