We all know that when you’re in the dating scene, first impressions are everything.
Your clothes, hair, education, interests – they all say a little something about the type of person you are.
And when it’s your turn to choose where to go and what to do for a second date, well… you better choose wisely.
So just a couple of weeks ago, it was up to me to come up with a great date idea. I did what any other person who’s new to a city would do: I busted out my researching skills and navigated through Google’s messy “fun things to do in Toronto” search results.
There, I found SPiN Galactic, the “galaxy of ping-pong night clubs”.
… I was sold instantly.
The Toronto location is just one of the many SPiN Galactic ping-pong clubs; they’re also in New York, Milwaukee, Los Angeles and Dubai. According to its website, it was partially created by award-winning actress, Susan Sarandon, and after experiencing it first-hand, I’d say SPiN definitely deserves an award, too.
When you walk in, the music and lights make you feel like you’ve entered any other upscale lounge. But the hundreds of yellow ping pong balls rolling on the floor and bouncing off of the twelve ping pong tables lining the room let you know that you’ve entered something completely different. The club has two fully stocked bars to help ease the butterflies and the servers actually encourage you to keep the drinks flowing by offering more alcoholic beverages while you’re playing.
Price wise? It’s not overly expensive. It’s $60 an hour if you reserve a table. But if you walk in on any night, it’s only $30 an hour, and that price drops down to $20 an hour if you walk in before 5 p.m. And if it’s going to snag you a third date like it did for me? Well allow me to quote the Mastercard commercial by saying that that’s just priceless. 😉
