If you’re anything like me, you can’t bother to spend more than five minutes getting dressed everyday.
I tend to take the simplest route when getting dressed and go for whatever is most comfortable, and ladies, you know what I’m talking about: leggings. Whoever said leggings aren’t pants can, well, back off. There is a definite distinction between proper leggings and tights, so make sure you buy the right ones! I cannot express how many times I’ve seen girls walking around with what they presumed to be leggings but I can see their bare bottoms through their tights. THESE ARE NOT PANTS.
Putting the legging/tight debate aside, how exactly are leggings thrifty: how will they save me any money? Allow me to explain. If you go out and splurge on two or three pairs of decent leggings (on sale of course,) you can wear these all week if you wanted and no one would know or care. We all know how much a good fitting pair of jeans can cost, so save your money for those! You can check out Amazon here for great deals on leggings and see the versatility of styles, including fleece lined leggings that are perfect for winter!
So why do we love leggings so much?
They are uber comfortable and can really go with anything. My absolute favourite look is boots and a baggy top over leggings, with a scarf of course:
I scored leggings at Giant Tiger for under $5 and the denim button up for $10 on sale at Garage Clothing. With a basic white tank underneath and a chunky infinity scarf, this is the perfect Fall outfit.
Or you could go with a plaid button up (found on Pinterest). This look is very laid back but still put together.
Chunky sweaters or even sweater dresses are a must have as well, and they can be worn in the Fall and Winter.
So whether you’re on a tight budget or would rather spend your money on a big ticket item, leggings will decrease your wardrobe while maximizing the amount of outfit combination potential.
