Happy Friday, Babes!
I’m back from a major hiatus, and I’m so thrilled to announce that you’ll be seeing much more of me from now on.
As you may know, I (along with my other Smart Snobs) have always been a huge advocate of being the healthiest YOU you can be. Fitness will always be a key component of that.
Now, remember that when we say “snobs”, we are referring to those who believe they deserve the best. Live whatever lifestyle that makes you feel the most exquisite, because that’s what you are. Be selective, aka “snobby”, about what you buy, how you fuel your body, and how you spend your precious time, because… well… YOLO.
For today’s Fitness Friday, I’m sharing with you my top gym bag essentials this spring. I’ve become the “workout during my lunch hour” type, which means that I always need to have my bag packed and ready to go.
So if you’re like me and need to travel with your gym gear, here are 10 must-haves, EXCLUDING gym clothes and gym shoes. Those are just way too obvious, amiright?
1. Gym bag (obvi)
I’ve always been a big fan of LuLuLemon’s gym bags, especially those in black. You can always count on them to look sleek paired with any outfit, and LuLuLemon’s Everywhere Duffel is bound to offer you just that while maintaining top durability and functionality.
One of the most-used gifts I’ve ever received are my beloved Bose Soundlink Around-Ear Wireless Headphones II. Of course, any headphones will do, but I personally find that the high quality sound combined with the lack of cord makes a significant difference in my workout. These babies stay in my gym bag permanently, and they play a large contribution to staying in the zone.
3. Dry Shampoo
Ladies, what did we ever do without dry shampoo? Whether you’re rushing from the gym to the office or to a social event, I believe dry shampoo is a must-have. Of course, a shower is always recommended after a sweat sesh, but if you don’t want to wash your hair after every workout, an extra bottle that resides in your gym bag will save your life.
I’ve tried a few different dry shampoos, but I find myself continuously gravitating to Batiste. It’s affordable, effective, and smells pretty.
That being said, if you want to splurge an have darker hair that doesn’t always agree with the inexpensive brands, Klorane is phenomenal (according to a fellow SmartSnob with dark hari).
4. Small, portable brush
To go along with the dry shampoo is a small, portable brush. This is self-explanatory; you just need something to brush out the dry shampoo. I honestly don’t know where I got mine from, but I DO know that it looks exactly like the one pictured above and works like a charm (and it costs only $2.15).
5. Roll-on perfume
Whatever scent makes you feel good, use that one. I personally love my Viktor Rolf’s Flowerbomb when I want a stronger, more floral scent. But if I’m just looking to freshen up, I’m loving L’Occitane’s Verbana Eau de Toilette.
… for obvious reasons. Just in case you ever forget. 😉 I tend to gravitate towards the natural deodorants, but it depends on personal preference.
7. Ankle socks
These are especially useful when you’re wearing full-length wool socks in colder weather. No one wants to wear those bad boys with a pair of runners. My favourite pair is the LuLuLemon Speed Sock.
8. Motivating water bottle
While in San Diego, CA a couple of weeks ago, I visited a Lorna Jane store for the first time and fell in love with this water bottle. Not only does it hold a full litre and show measurements on the side, it boasts a “just let me workout” message that reminds me that exercising is an opportunity instead of a chore.
9. Makeup removing/cleansing face wipes
I keep these Neautrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes in my bag to remove the face makeup before working out. I’m not as concerned about the minimal eye makeup I normally wear, since one typically does not sweat from his or her eyeballs. This allows me to get my sweat on, and then I can quickly re-apply face makeup before heading back to the office or to a social event.
10. Lipstick or gloss
Let’s face it: lipsticks can easily get lost if you’re always on-the-go and switching bags. I keep a pretty pink shade like Charlotte Tilbury’s Secret Salma in the front pocket of my gym bag at all times. Between a pop a spring-like colour and the influx of endorphins, I can walk out of the gym with the ultimate high.
If you want a lipstick that lasts THROUGHOUT your workout, try Maybelline’s new SUPERSTAY lipstick.
