Now that it’s once again Friday, most of you are probably just dying to be heading home from work so that you can start to enjoy your weekend.
As for me, my weekend always starts early. I don’t work on Fridays, and because of this, I had a little too much to drink on Thursday. Whoops.
Last night turned into a typical night out with my bestie; what’s supposed to be one or two drinks turned into many, many more. It was the darndest thing.
So, naturally, intoxicated past-Jess lead to a hungover present-Jess. I woke up this morning wearing the same clothes as the night before and to a pounding headache. Red wine, you’ve done it again.
But I did something differently on this painful, disoriented day than I usually do: I went for a jog.
Yeah, that’s right. I drank a ton of water, popped in an Advil, and after about three Orange is the New Black episodes worth of rest, I went for a jog. I’m so proud of myself. See ya, toxins!
And as I was jogging, I found a new appreciation for my armband and decided to dedicate today’s Fabulous You to it.
Armband, I love you. Here’s why.
I used to be one of those people who stuffed their phone into some piece of clothing during a workout. If I had pockets, GREAT! But I often didn’t have pockets, since my workout clothes have always consisted of tight black shorts and a tank top.
So I stuffed my phone into my bra or down the side of my gym shorts. No matter what, it always got sweaty and slipped out of place. It was annoying, so I bought the Yurbuds armband and it’s made my workouts so much better.
1. Armbands are safer.
I think a lot of people seem to forget that cell phones are two-way microwave radios. They really shouldn’t be placed anywhere on your body, especially not in your bra over your heart. There isn’t a lot of scientific evidence to suggest that keeping your phone in your bra causes cancer or anything, but it can’t be good for you.
2. Armbands are secure.
Not only does my phone no longer slide around during my workout, but my armband also has a little pocket that’s specifically designed for my keys. This feature really comes in handy when I’m just going for a jog around the neighbourhood.
3. Armbands are better for your phone.
We all know that water’s deadly for a cell phone… and so is sweat. Being stuck to your wet, slimy skin is not a good spot for your phone, and being in a strapped-in accessory helps to prevent it from smashing on the ground.
There are so many different kinds of armbands out there, and I know you’ve seen them around. Hey, you might already have one and are thinking, “Jess, why are you writing about something as simple as armbands? That’s not new or exciting.”
To answer that question, I’m dedicating today to them because I didn’t think I really needed one until I had one. It’s made a world of a difference in my fitness regimen.
I bought mine from Dick’s Sporting Goods for only $24 while I was visiting my parents in the U.S. You could find yours at any sports store though. Just make sure that it’s comfortable. 😉
Stay fabulous. xo
