CALLING ALL MY WINO FRIENDS OUT THERE!
As many of you know, I’m a bit of a red wine enthusiast. My friends even make specific signs for me when we go out:
I’m always the friend up for a glass of nice wine, but I’m also young and can’t afford expensive wine every night. I also don’t really drink white wine, and red is much harder to find for a reasonable price. Inevitably, I’ve found some of the best places with cheap wine in Toronto, and figure it would only be fair to share some of my knowledge around finding good wine on a budget in Toronto!
Lets start with my personal favourite:
CIBO wine bar has 2 locations and opening a 3rd in Yorkville this month. The more important fact is that they have HALF PRICE WINE on Thursdays.
Thats right. Half Price from 4-7. And I swear it’s the best thing that’s ever happened. You can go for your typical $6 glass of “okay” wine, or you can get $100 bottles of wine for $50. My personal favourite? Definitely the Peppoli. $19.99 at the LCBO or only $22.50 being served to you at a nice restaurant.
If you like something a little more low key, this is a great central pub right at Yonge and Davenport for cheap happy hour wine!!
3-6 every day (including weekends!) there are $5 glasses or $18 bottles of what I would consider a wine that is worth every cent (keep in mind I’m talking about RED wine on a budget here). If you like pubs but don’t want beer, this is a great place to go for affordable and consumable wine!
This quaint place in Liberty Village has such a draw for so many reasons. Much like Gusto 101, this place has $1 ounce house wine. What Vespa has that Gusto doesn’t is $10 off bottles on Tuesdays! It is a hidden gem, and definitely worth the trek to Liberty to try out!
Much like CIBO, Czehoski has half price wine Wednesdays, but also the added benefit of their house wine being $5 every night! So if you’re not in the mood to do some Wednesday night drinking, you can go any night and still get a deal!
Finally – BYOB (or W in this case)
From fancy restaurants like Blu in Yorkville who have FREE CORKAGE MONDAYS
To more relaxed cafes/restaurants like Joy Bistro,
There are ALL THESE PLACES in Toronto that let you bring your own wine, and chances are (with the exception of the half price wine nights) it will be a much cheaper night with whatever wine you choose to bring!
